Scene of the Blog Featuring Katrina of Pining for the West!

This week we'll be visiting Katrina on the east coast of Scotland. She's lived there for thirty years, but it still doesn't feel like home. West is best, hence the name of her blog, Pining for the West.

I was visiting another UK blogger when I stumbled across a mention of Katrina's blog. Since I live in the (south)western part of the United States and much prefer the west of Scotland to the east, it was destined that I pay a visit, wasn't it?

Pining for the West is a wonderful mix of book and film talk, recipes, crafts, and travelogues profusely illustrated with Katrina's photos. I very much hope you'll take this opportunity to visit Katrina's blog and say hello!

For any newcomers to Kittling: Books and this feature-- Welcome! I hope you'll take a moment or two to look around. If there are any photos in this post that you'd like to see in a larger size, all you have to do is click on them, and they'll open in a new window.

Let's go visit Katrina!

Blogging in the dining room

I tend to blog wherever it's brightest so this photo is the dining room where I use my Netbook during the day.

[I spy several interesting books behind that chair! Is that a copy of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" with the Doré illustrations?]

Blogging in the living room

I also use the Netbook in the living room.

[A cozy, comfortable looking room with plenty of books close at hand!]

Katrina's hobby room

This was taken in my son's computer room - now my hobby room - and I sometimes blog from there.

[I love the prints on the wall, the basket of yarn and projects-in-progress, and all those pillows. Are they stitched by your own hand, Katrina?]

The study

The main computer is usually only on at night. I share it with my husband. It's in his study, which you see to the right.

[The wood of the desk is beautiful, and I love those shelves filled with books and topped with tins!]

Thank you so much for letting us have this glimpse of your creative spaces, Katrina. We really appreciate it!

Don't forget to stop by next Wednesday when I'll be featuring another book blogger from our worldwide community!

  2. Comfortable house with many places to read and blog, what more could you ask? Thank you for sharing.

In my too short visit to Scotland I couldn't decide whether I liked east or west the most. Anywhere there were sheep (everywhere) and hills and greenery, I loved.

  3. I love that she has books all over the house! I think I'm the last person in the world to mainly use a desktop computer.

  4. Kathy-- Think again. I may do some of my research on my Netbook, but I do ALL my blogging at my desktop!

  5. It has been fun sharing my place with you all.
The west of Scotland definitely has the best scenery which is what I really miss.
I tend to visit other blogs during the day but late at night is when I usually write blogposts so I'm on the desktop computer then.
Cathy, The pillows/cushions are all my own work and very well spotted, that is a copy of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner illustrated by Dore!
    Thanks for having me.
