I would suggest a moderate feast--read as many as keep you enchanted, and then take a break for a while.Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01374498643286099244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-39054042896960882762013-07-26T00:30:43.190-07:002013-07-26T00:30:43.190-07:00Sounds like it might turn out to be quite the task...Sounds like it might turn out to be quite the task, Kathy. ;-)Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-59349528478701686712013-07-25T11:47:50.923-07:002013-07-25T11:47:50.923-07:00I've got one of King's books around here s...I've got one of King's books around here somewhere - it sounds like I need to pull it out.bermudaonionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726401178972099557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-51924011810683624912013-07-25T11:40:26.564-07:002013-07-25T11:40:26.564-07:00I think that's what I'll do. I've devoured a series only to have that happen and it can put me off the rest of the series. And-- as you've mentioned-- there's always a weak book in the series. There are exceptions to my rule, and this is the best one by far.Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-54422214165740290002013-07-25T11:35:22.562-07:002013-07-25T11:35:22.562-07:00Yes, I lived in that building for 19 years, Candac...Yes, I lived in that building for 19 years, Candace! King does that I think with Conan Doyle's characters and it's easy to like this series. And I'm in general a purist. I enjoyed it anyway.

To answer your question, my experience from reading other series (e.g. the In Death books (J.D. Robb) and the Roderick Alleyn series (Ngaio Marsh)) is that reading feasts are good and fine, as long as the books live up to expectation. With both series I had myself a reading feast that lasted several books and then hit a disappointing book (most series have them) that stopped me for months. Right now I am trying to work up the enthusiasm to finish the Brother Cadfael books after reading several of them one after the other and then being massively disappointed in one book that marred my interest in them. I suggest taking a few weeks break between each book, but don't make the breaks too long or you might lose interest. Bibliophilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10960676264710788969noreply@blogger.com
