J...I'm glad you didn't take the job there.

Just read that women who organized the campaign for women to have the right to drive may face the death penalty just turns me off. I don't care how good the book is. It's just too horrible, like reading about 1930s Germany. No human rights.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-18961974593162973412018-08-23T01:38:56.584-07:002018-08-23T01:38:56.584-07:00And you know if I hear anything, I'll race rig...And you know if I hear anything, I'll race right back here to tell everyone about it!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-18531737773245391772018-08-22T18:37:14.022-07:002018-08-22T18:37:14.022-07:00I second that these are marvelous books. Only problem is that the second book revealed a terrible (in)justice system, just horrific. And they have a brutal death penalty akin to ISIS. No rights for defendants; relatives are jailed if the suspect isn't caught.

So I could not read any more about it. Now learning that the organizers of the campaign to allow women to drive were arrested does not encourage me to read more about Saudi Arabia, in fiction or not.

If I decide I can read more in the series, I will.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-28447497615223473322018-08-21T06:26:28.269-07:002018-08-21T06:26:28.269-07:00She certainly does! She certainly does!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-49210013334076982662018-08-21T04:51:02.915-07:002018-08-21T04:51:02.915-07:00I really liked Ferraris' first works, too, Cat...I really liked Ferraris' first works, too, Cathy, but hadn't gotten to this one yet. So glad to hear it lives up to the others. She does evoke such a sense of place and culture, doesn't she?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
