I'm also more realistic: I'm just not going to be able to read ALL the books. :(

Judy-- If I had a choice between the LOTR books or the movies, I'd choose the movies, too! Thanks for stopping by!

Kaye-- That's what happens to me... I see a movie and then read the book because I want to know more.

Caite-- I used to be that way, too. It must have something to do with my advancing years. ;)

Jenny-- Exactly. I forgive Hollywood not following the book closely...just make it a good movie!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-7168188937583197402009-08-17T19:23:42.162-07:002009-08-17T19:23:42.162-07:00I'm still a little obsessive and would rather ...I'm still a little obsessive and would rather read the book first. But I do watch the movie with a grain of salt. I know it won't be just like the book or as good. But at least make it enjoyable in it's own right.Jenny Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04077659644092707107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-69978233684682215732009-08-17T17:16:08.720-07:002009-08-17T17:16:08.720-07:00see, I would rather see the movie first and then h...see, I would rather see the movie first and then have the book, which is usually a better experience, to look forward to.caitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05824538078958999767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-86663709668970369632009-08-17T09:45:58.383-07:002009-08-17T09:45:58.383-07:00I generally like to read the books first, but occa...I generally like to read the books first, but occassionally read the book because the movie was good and I wanted to know more of the story. my musings kayerjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08479123027080062607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-26549262311726670212009-08-17T08:59:41.420-07:002009-08-17T08:59:41.420-07:00There are some books that I'd rather watch the...There are some books that I'd rather watch the movie (like LOTR).. Like you, I used to be adamant about reading a book before seeing the movie translation, and while I still often prefer it that way, it isn't necessary. As you said, there are definitely books out there that I have little to no interest in reading but the movies may appeal to me. Romantic Comedies for example. I enjoy the movie, but really have little interest in reading the books more often than not.

I enjoy watching movies and can usually separate the book from the movie in terms of my enjoyment. It's always interesting to see how the book is translated from page to screen, I think.Literary Felinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13079276242303738719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-63511050253113363162009-08-17T06:15:55.885-07:002009-08-17T06:15:55.885-07:00Like you, I'm usually curious to see how a fil...Like you, I'm usually curious to see how a film maker will treat the book. I expect them to leave some things out, and I can mostly enjoy the movie seperately from the book.

Here's my musing...Susan https://www.blogger.com/profile/15061596156521953005noreply@blogger.com
