It's very hard to balance the two but I'm glad it happens here. What an effective way to tell a story that needs to be told.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-23790096020882269022012-12-13T23:38:45.074-07:002012-12-13T23:38:45.074-07:00I hope he can, too, Kathy.I hope he can, too, Kathy.Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-27333851428889479602012-12-13T23:37:24.841-07:002012-12-13T23:37:24.841-07:00I hope he can find a publisher!I hope he can find a publisher!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-89285205281095300122012-12-13T23:37:08.519-07:002012-12-13T23:37:08.519-07:00There are some excellent mysteries set in modern d...There are some excellent mysteries set in modern day Africa, Jessica. Another of my favorites is the Detective Kubu series written by Michael Stanley.Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-32764019275298956002012-12-13T23:36:03.640-07:002012-12-13T23:36:03.640-07:00I think you'd like it, Debbie.I think you'd like it, Debbie.Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-4967887932856472252012-12-13T21:58:24.304-07:002012-12-13T21:58:24.304-07:00Oh, this is awful that Quartey's publisher dro...Oh, this is awful that Quartey's publisher dropped him. There are few enough published African writers, including of crime fiction.

This sounds like a very good book, albeit a painful one. I'm afraid I'll just get so angry over the inequality and injustice in the world -- especially affecting children who deserve to have decent lives and futures.

This is an example of the "haves" and "have nots" in the world, which should be remedied.

Anyway, I'd like to read this book but it sounds like it's plucked out of reality and more than painful. I hate to read about children in such desperate circumstances and poverty, without much help, having to fend for themselves. However, it's the real world in so many places. I do not blame the people of Ghana at all; there's so much poverty everywhere.

Hope this author can continue his detection and social commentary. It's needed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-60146164230205460492012-12-13T15:44:26.095-07:002012-12-13T15:44:26.095-07:00I LOVE this series and can't wait for his next...I LOVE this series and can't wait for his next one!Thoughts of Joyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05572910467988997432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-6351585646633336902012-12-13T13:42:21.223-07:002012-12-13T13:42:21.223-07:00Ooh, this sounds awesome!
