Can you imagine what Plath and Sexton talked about? I saw that movie several times before I ever moved here. Now I have fun seeing how many buildings I can recognize-- although I moved here 20 years after the movie was filmed, and the city had changed tremendously. As far as that goes, it's changed tremendously in the thirty years since I've been here!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-62697407033358786802014-07-19T15:09:53.594-07:002014-07-19T15:09:53.594-07:00Cathy - Me again. After writing my comment, I went back to "iconic opening frames" and read most of the reader comments, suggesting movies that had been unfortunately omitted. There were several mentions of West Side Story with that long bird's eye shot of New York with the great Leonard Benstein music in the background. Then I thought of my one of my own favorites, "Psycho" Also a scan of a city (Phoenix, as I recall), one long shot that targets an apartment window and then zooms into the bedroom, and Janet Leigh is dressing after a noon time interlude. Very sexy scene, much better than "Lost in Translation" and with music by Bernard Hermann.

Ken, McLean VAKennethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10230841071384176436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-33328439365374892212014-07-18T11:57:06.578-07:002014-07-18T11:57:06.578-07:00I, too, think I was an archaeologist in a previous...I, too, think I was an archaeologist in a previous life. I was fascinated by it all from a very early age, and a cross country trip to visit my archaeologist great uncle in Grass Valley, California, when I was ten sealed the deal.Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1999659125625323494.post-22172160707924194392014-07-18T04:47:58.417-07:002014-07-18T04:47:58.417-07:00Cathy - I absolutely loved your 'evolution of ...Cathy - I absolutely loved your 'evolution of a reader' post! I'm glad you've gotten such a great response for it. And thanks as always for these links. I think in another life I was an archaeologist or paleontologist. I always love reading things about new discoveries of ancient things....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
