The Nibbling Ducks Weekly Link Round-Up

The past week has not been fun for Denis. Well, to be honest, it hasn't been a laugh riot for him since we were in the UK. He pulled a muscle in his back at work. My bonny lad also seems to have inherited a bad ear gene, and he always has to be careful of ear infections. He's had one since September. I think I would've gone insane by now! He's had non-stop infections that his doctor finally seems to be putting an end to. He's had one hearing aid after another need repair. And then he decided to go to my dermatologist to have a rough patch of skin on the top of one ear checked. He had non-life-threatening skin cancer removed from it last Thursday and will be going in to have the stitches removed soon.

Heating pads, muscle relaxers, ear drops, antibiotics... all I've had to deal with is getting new medical insurance because the company I retired from after many years' labor decided we old farts were too expensive to provide coverage for.

I hear those links out in the corral, so I'd better go round 'em up for you. Then it will be time to let those ducks have at us... again. Sheesh!

  1. So sorry to hear about Denis, Cathy! How awful for him! And please, don't get me started about insurance companies. Just...don't. The ducks are so much nicer to think about! They are adorable! And thanks for the links. I want to go look at that Roman fresco...

  2. Poor Denis! So sorry about his medical woes. I'm prone to ear infections too and have had skin cancers removed. Sigh. Tell him to hang in there. Medical insurance - bah humbug!

On a happier note, that little article about Beverly Cleary is wonderful. I'm going to use it for fodder for a 'kay's favorites' post soon. OK, here's something interesting - I am finding several of my favorite authors from my young years have lived or are still living to be wonderfully great ages. Like 100 or well into the 90's. Think there is something about being creative and using your mind for a long, long time? I'm just amazed. Phyllis Whitney lived to be 104!

    1. You know... I've had the exact same thought about those authors, Kay!

  3. Thanks for the links; a lot are interesting. I love the Stonehenge article as well as the bookstore news.

Hope Denis feels better. Earaches and infections combined with back pain, not good.

    1. Fortunately he's back to being his usual ornery self-- the self I much prefer!
