The Book Early Weekly Link Round-Up

We used to call Casa Kittling the "Barlow B&B" because we had so many friends and family come to stay.  Bookings have been rather rare in recent years, but that's all about to change. We'll have a friend from Washington come down in March, and a niece from the UK in June. Denis and I are busy making plans, so with no further ado, I'm going to mosey out to the corral for those links.

Head 'em up! Moooooooooooove 'em out!

►Books, Movies & Other Interesting Tidbits◄
  • Bill Gates on books and blogging.
  • Interesting... all five missing Hong Kong booksellers work for a publishing house known for producing books critical of the Chinese government.
  • Fortunately this has not happened to me (and I wouldn't advise it)-- don't fart during an MRI. Just in case you need a good laugh.
  • After recent flooding some people are calling The Book Case in West Yorkshire England's most cursed bookstore. Some bikers patroled the flood-hit towns to prevent looting, and hearing them talk about what they did made me smile.
  • What Annie Hartnett learned from selling books to strangers.
  • Kate Atkinson just became the first author to win the Costa Prize three times. I love her books.
  • One of this country's oldest bookstores is for sale.
  • What exactly does an editor do? The role has changed over time.
  • The Dag Hammarskjöld Library at the United Nations announced its most-checked-out book in 2015, and although it fits right in this blog with its crime-related subject, it's rather disturbing.
  • How The Sound of Silence became a surprise hit.
  • How the phonograph changed music forever.
  • How Sherlock Holmes changed the world.

That's all for this week!  Don't forget to stop by next Friday when I'll be sharing a freshly selected batch of links for your surfing pleasure.

Have a great weekend, and read something fabulous!

    1. As long as folks don't try to book all on the same dates, Denis and I are good! LOL
