A Shrimp and Taxes Weekly Link Round-Up

Yet another quiet week passes here at Casa Kittling. I got our income taxes filed at the beginning of the week, and I'm looking forward to tasting the Cajun shrimp and rice that I'll be cooking for dinner. I have an outing to The Poisoned Pen this weekend, and Denis is putting the finishing touches on a new desk set-up for me. (Yes, I'll post a photo or two when everything is complete.)

More than anything else, I'm trying to get back to feeling connected... like everything is back to normal. Have any of you ever felt at loose ends and not known why? That's me, and I can't say that I enjoy the feeling. Oh, well. Enough musing-- on to those links!

  1. Cathy - Mmmm - shrimp! :-) And honestly, I was glad to see the links as ever, but I was stopped at the 'Bosch' one. I must see that. I really like that series.

  2. I liked that one on the TBR lists. I don't have one. When I've got money, I buy a few books, and they're almost always read by the time I've got money to go book shopping again. Just got done with the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian. 20 volumes. Sounds scary, but it was fun and didn't really take all that much time. (Sailing ships and the Napoleonic Wars. Now I'm rereading the Hornblower series. Don't know what I'll do when I run out of those...)

The idea of resurrecting plague DNA is a bit scary. Science is sometimes a two-edged sword. We want all this knowledge (this is a good thing--I'm a scientist's daughter, and know the pull of knowledge), but there's always that niggling feeling that someone out there might be looking for a way to turn it to the harm of a great number of people.

    1. I don't have a list either, Pepper. The only books I read on some sort of timetable are the advance reading copies I receive; all the rest I choose by whim. :-)

Yes, I had the same reservations about resurrecting the plague DNA. Reminds me of Jeff Goldblum in "Jurassic Park": "They're so busy asking if they can do it when they should be asking if they should." Or words to that effect....
