James Tissot is one of my favorite artists. I bought a book of his art several years ago, well before I met Denis. A year or so after Denis immigrated, I found myself browsing through the book of Tissot's art again, and I was brought short by this one painting called M. le Capitaine, or Gentleman in a Railway Carriage, which was done in 1872. Can you see why I was amazed?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Tissot's model were an ancestor of Denis's, would you?
Hi! I'm addicted to books (especially crime fiction), laughter and traveling off the beaten path. In my free time, when my eyes aren't glued to the printed page, one of them is usually pressed against the viewfinder of my camera. Let's see... books, laughter, travel, photography. Anything else? Oh yeah-- my dream house wouldn't have a kitchen!
