Need Some Cargo for Your Kindle?

One thing I try to do every day is to learn something new. The new thing for me today is learning that Amazon has a "bargain bin." Of course I had to check it out for crime fiction (all 1200 entries), and although I didn't find anything for myself, what I did find was some very good bargains on Kindle editions. I don't own a Kindle, but there's no reason why I can't pass along a good thing!

This is a fast and easy post that I'm not going to take the time to pretty up with book covers-- just authors, titles, prices and links. These are all authors that I recommend, and hopefully that means something to you. Let's get to it!

  1. The Ghosts of Belfast by Stuart Neville, $3.99. This is the first book in the series featuring Detective Inspector Jack Lennon of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and was a finalist in several awards.
  2. Rashomon Gate by I.J. Parker, $4.99. This is the second book in the excellent historical series featuring Sugawara Akitada, a sleuth in eleventh century Japan.
  3. The Rabbit Factory by Marshall Karp, $2.99. This is the first Lomax and Biggs mystery-- Lomax and Biggs being two Los Angeles police detectives. A good story laced with irreverent humor.
  4. Hardly Knew Her by Laura Lippman, $.99. If you have yet to read the excellent Ms. Lippman, how about trying a book of her short stories? The price is certainly right!
  5. Everywhere That Mary Went by Lisa Scottoline, $1.99. This is the first book in the Rosato and Associates series featuring an all-woman law firm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  6. The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, $1.90. One of the very best in the Sherlock Holmes canon.
  7. Still Life by Louise Penny, $2.99. If you still haven't read any of Louise Penny's Three Pines books and you have a Kindle, here's your chance to download some excellent reading-- and it's the first book in the series!
  8. The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie, $.95. In the mood for a classic mystery? You can't do any better than Hercule Poirot!
  9. Jar City by Arnaldur Indridason, $2.99. Be an armchair sleuth and travel to Iceland to see Detective Inspector Erlendur Sveinsson in action!
Load up that Kindle and Happy Reading!

  3. Great idea with some Kindle bargains.
I have read a couple of these writers.

A Kindle bargain I found the other day: British Liza Cody´s Ballad of a Dead Nobody for next to nothing. I haven´t read this novel yet, but I know her for the wonderful Anna Lee series (the most charming, British private eye).

  4. Thanks for letting us know about this, Cathy. I'm going to get I Hardly Knew Her and Still Life as both are authors I've been wanting to try.

  5. Even if you don't have a Kindle, you can get the Kindle reader software for your computer, or for hand-held devices like smart phones. Then you'd be able to take advantage of the bargain prices. Maybe a desk-top computer wouldn't be the most comfortable to read on (I know, I've done it), but a notebook computer can be set in a comfortable position on the bed or a nearby surface, and tablet computers are even more mobile.

  6. Dorte-- And I know and like her by reading her Eva Wylie books!

Debbie-- I hope you enjoy them!

Pepper-- That's something for me to think about. Thanks!
