Kathy-- Oh, it's anything but desolate! Just a different landscape than you're used to seeing.
Caite-- I know what you mean. I don't have to go very far in a slightly different direction to be in mountains that contain the largest Ponderosa pine forest in the world.
SuziQ-- I'm glad you can see the beauty even though it is, indeed, very different from what you're used to. :)
Beth-- I'm lucky that I get to see them everyday. When I lived grew up in central Illinois, I think I took the color green for granted. It's been years since I've done that.
