Weekly Link Round-Up

It's cooled down to the mid-80s, so it may be safe to say that fall has arrived in Phoenix. We had visitors from our insurance company to take a look at the hail damage from that storm that steamrolled its way through about three weeks ago. The house didn't take kindly to being beaten unmercifully with golfball-sized hail. (Thank goodness we didn't live in the part of town that experienced tennis ball-sized chunks of ice!) Looks like Casa Kittling will be getting a new coat of paint, a new roof, a new carport, and a new window. After a transformation like that, I hope I pull into the right driveway when I come home!

Enough of that-- on with the links!

New to My Google Reader

You've probably noticed that links in the "Around the Water Cooler in the Book Blogosphere" section have been light on the ground the past couple of weeks. Either I've missed all the goodies, or everyone's already gearing up for the holidays. Be that as it may, I hope you found something to tickle your fancy in the list above.

Don't forget to stop by next Friday when I'll have a fresh batch of links for your surfing pleasure. See you then!

  1. Great links as always Cathy. The one about the pay to view early book club particularly intrigued me...had not heard about this, but like you, I would not go for that...

  2. That scarf is great - I think any mystery fan would enjoy that as a gift.

I agree regarding the revolution, we do need one in this country, in my opinion. This weekend I have to read up on all the crappy politicians I get to vote for on Tuesday. So far I don't like any of them.

I'm not sure if my library system is having trouble with funding and doing lay-offs, but we not have to pick up our own holds instead of the holds being behind the library desk for them to get. I'm not sure if I should be expecting more changes to come or not. Guess we'll se.

  3. Funny scarf :) I could use it tonight at the football game I'll be attending.

A librarian at our county library told me that soon we'll be checking out our own books...kind of like the do it yourself check out at the grocery store.

    Great links! Had fun.

  4. TBG-- We already know how to get our hands on ARCs, don't we? :)

Kris-- I think you should probably expect more changes. Sooner or later all businesses realize that the best way to cut costs is to cut staff. Not only do they get rid of the axed person's salary but also the cost of their benefits and insurance.

Lynne-- I'm glad. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. The library dispenser scares me to death! I would never want that to happen as I love to browse the shelves and look at all of the possibilities!!

  6. Oh man, the new Babysitter's Club cover is horrid!

  7. Staci-- If I knew what I wanted and was just running in to pick up those, it wouldn't be a problem, but I like to browse, too! That's part of the fun of going to the library.

Amy-- Sometimes I wish I had the know-how to do book covers.
